Condensation has become a more prominent
issue in the past few years because sustainable building designs are reducing
ventilation in ceiling spaces, making buildings more susceptible to roof and
water damage.
Industry practitioners who
want help understanding the effects of condensation can download an information handbook from the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB)
website.
Called Condensation in Buildings, the handbook is a guide to dealing with the risks and problems of this matter.
This non-mandatory Handbook is intended to assist architects, designers and builders in the assessment and the management of the risk of condensation and its consequences in the contemporary industry environment and should be read in conjunction with the BCA provisions relating to Damp and Weather Proofing, and Energy Efficiency in all classes of buildings.
