Queensland's building regulator is under fire after a former criminal it had granted a licence to build pools disappeared, allegedly leaving some customers up to $70,000 out of pocket.
Adrian Caruso was convicted of drug offences and attempting to pervert the course of justice in Canberra in 2006.
He was sentenced to two years in prison, which was suspended on a good behaviour order.
