Two brothers who operated an online retail store selling indoor and outdoor spas as well as saunas and outdoor furniture and who took large deposits from consumers without delivering products have been ordered to pay $18,000 in fines, $1,566 in costs and $45,937.30 in compensation to victims.
Nicholas Lord and Gerasimos Lord pleaded guilty in Parramatta Local Court to offences under the Australian Consumer Law and the Fair Trading Act. The offences included accepting payment and not supplying goods in time and acting in contravention of an embargo notice. The brothers supplied potentially lethal spas after Fair Trading issued them with the embargo notice last year.
